A Day’s Rations

All packed for work!  A peanut butter on homemade rye sandwich for lunch and granola for breakfast.  I practice what I preach.  Here is the yogurt I’ve been making.  Here is the granola recipe.  I guess I’m getting old and set in my ways.  Is it the worst thing to eat the same thing every day?  Does that make me boring.  Getting my truck out of the parking deck at lunchtime is super inconvenient.  Sometimes the sandwich is delicious leftovers from supper the night before.  Today, it’s just a sandwich. Peanut butter is always Jif Super Chunk.

My daughter, Rachel, has been making her own peanut butter.  I need to get together with her to learn that procedure.  Alton Brown did a cool PB, frying the peanuts first in a wok.

The rye bread recipe I make just about every Sunday that I’m kicking around the kitchen, but somehow, has not made it to the blog yet!!  Uh-oh!  I feel another blog post coming!!!

About John MacDowall

I was born in Poughkeepsie, NY. We moved to a farm during middle school where I learned about raising animals and growing food. Now, I live in the affluent suburbs of Washington, DC and wonder why people eat the way they do.
